Soft cover, 170 pages. The second edition has more historic photos than the first edition did. Written when Connie was in her eighties, this edition also includes an interpretative essay by historian Andrea Hawkes, who examines Connie Small's life story as an important source for understandingNew Englandhistory and the study of women, and places it within a tradition of American women’s autobiography. Connie Small was known as the “First Lady of Light” who gave hundreds of lectures on why it is important to save lighthouse history, more so than the structures themselves. Her last lecture was given shortly before her death at the age of 103. The book is also rated as one of the best true life love stories ever written about lighthouse life.
Autographed copies are very hard to find. This book would make a great addition to any lighthouse, maritime, or history collection.
